The right size matters.
The importance of properly fitting shoes is often underestimated and even overlooked, but it is a problem for everyone, especially for diabetics with neuropathy or diabetic foot syndrome. Ill-fitting shoes can cause blisters, injuries, and a variety of other foot problems. It is even more important for diabetics, who are prone to various foot problems, to wear proper footwear.
Measuring your feet at home
When measuring your feet, follow these few rules:
Measure your feet in the evening, when they reach their maximum size throughout the day.
Take measurements in socks.
Measure your feet while standing, leaving at least ten centimeters of space between them.
Measure the size of both feet. To choose the right size, it is important to be oriented
according to the larger measured value.
For more accurate measurements, ask a second person for assistance.
Stand with your feet on cardboard or paper so that your back and heels are touching a vertical wall. It is best to have someone help you with this to avoid inaccuracies. The second person will trace both of your feet with a marker.
When tracing the foot, make sure that the marker is perpendicular to the paper.
Measure the length of your foot as the distance from the edge of the paper to the longest point you have drawn. Add 3 millimeters to the measurement. Do the same for both feet.
Measure the width of your foot as the distance between the two furthest points on the foot drawing in its width. Add 3 millimeters to the measured value. Do the same for both feet.
From the measured lengths and widths of your feet, choose the largest one. Note it down in millimeters.
Find your length in millimeters in our size chart and choose the right shoe size accordingly.
Attention! The dw shoes size chart is customized and may not correspond to your regular shoe size.
If your measurements are between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger one.
Once you have determined the correct size, look at the row that corresponds to that size. There you will find the values in millimeters for three different widths: medium, wide, extra wide. Choose the correct width for your shoe.
